Guitar Tips: Adjust GUITAR ACTION (Saddle Height) To Avoid Fret Buzz | ...

In this video, I showed how I increased the guitar action of this acoustic guitar by adding shims under the saddle. I purchased this acoustic guitar as 2nd-hand and the action of the guitar was too low. The previous owner maybe liked this guitar to have a very low action.

I made some adjustment for the guitar action to fit my playing style.

GUILD D4 vs EPIPHONE AJ220S Acoustic Guitars Comparison | Edwin-E

A comparison video between Guild D4 and Epiphone AJ-220S acoustic guitars. Both guitars were restrung with Straight Up Strings Phosphor Bronze. I played one by one each guitar to hear the tone difference between the two. These guitars have different body shapes. Guild D4 is dreadnought while Epiphone AJ220S is sloped shoulder. Epiphone AJ220S Guitar Demo Fitted with String Butler | Edwin-E

Another guitar demo, this time I am showing Epiphone AJ-220S acoustic guitar. I have shown this guitar on my previous post but this time I restrung this guitar with Straight Up Strings Phosphor Bronze light gauge set. This guitar has solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. It has rosewood bridge and fingerboard. It has sloped shoulder shape which is a little smaller than a dreadnought shape. I also installed String Butler for guitar at the headstock for better tuning stability. Watch the video and hear the sound.

Restringing Epiphone AJ220S Guitar Fitted with String Butler | Edwin-E

This video is about my restringing of Epiphone AJ-220S acoustic guitar. This restringing is a little bit different due to the additional device fitted on the headstock. The device I added was String Butler for guitar. This String Butler makes strings straight from the nut thereby eliminating angle on the nut slot which sometimes causes the strings to be stuck on the slot and have tuning issues.

Guild D4 HR Acoustic Guitar Demo Review | Edwin-E

This is a demo of Guild D4 HR acoustic guitar. I have shown this guitar before way back 2018. This time I show it again but with a different set of strings. I restrung this guitar with Straight Up String by Siminoff, Phosphor Bronze. This has a solid Spruce Top, solid Mahogany sides and laminated back. The back designed is arch type without bracing. It has Rosewood bridge and fingerboard. The saddle is called Ivoroid, it is very light material, like a plastic. The bridge pins are plastic material.

This model is made in USA. Looking at the headstock you can see it has True American writing on the cover plate of truss rod. And it has Guild logo on top of the headstock. The tuners are diecast chrome. The guitar finish is satin as per model name HR, which mean hand rubbed finished. The body shape is dreadnought with black binding along the edges. Taylor Guitar Truss Rod Adjustment DIY Guitar Tip

Another guitar tip: How to adjust truss rod on a Taylor acoustic guitar. I showed the tools I used in this adjustment. The most important is the 1/4" (6.35 mm) truss rod wrench. Never use the 6.5 mm which is also available on the market. This 6.5mm wrench may cause damage to the nut of the truss rod of the Taylor acoustic guitar. I used a capo on the first fret to match the pitch of the original recording. The audio was recorded using Audio Technica AT-2020 XLR condenser microphone connected to Canon M50 mirrorless camera.

Plastic vs Bone Bridge Pins Sound Comparison on Acoustic Guitar

In this video I showed sound comparison when the guitar is fitted with plastic bridge pins and bone bridge pins. I did not replace the strings on this video. I only replaced bridge pins. The guitar I used was S Yairi YDT-18 acoustic guitar strung with Elixir Nanoweb Light-Medium gauge strings. I played various style playing to compare the sound. Check it out.

Elixir Light/Medium Nanoweb Strings on S Yairi YDT18 Acoustic Guitar Demo

First time I tried the Elixir Light/Medium Nanoweb strings. It has gauges from 0.012 to 0.056. This means that the treble strings are on the light gauges while the bass strings are on the medium gauges. I installed this strings set on my S Yairi YDT-18 acoustic guitar. I really like the results of this combination. It has the comfort of light gauge and punch and bass response of a medium gauge. Checkout the video to hear the tone.

Guitar Tip: Easy Bridge Pin Removal on Acoustic Guitar

In this video I gave tips on how to easily remove the bridge pins on acoustic guitar. The tool I used here was a metal piece called bridge pin puller. The end part is similar to the shape of the claw bar tool that is used for removing nails. There are other tools for this job but I find this one as the easiest to use. I showed here that the technique after releasing the tension of the strings, the string to be removed should be pushed inwards in order to release the pressure between the bridge pin and guitar bridge or guitar top. Cordoba C5 Classic Guitar Review Demo

I showed here the Cordoba C5 Classic Guitar. I restrung the guitar with D'Addario ProArte nylon strings. Normally the guitar comes from the factory with Savarez strings. This guitar has solid Canadian Cedar top, Mahogany back and sides, Rosewood bridge and fingerboard. It comes with bone saddle and nut. The nut width is 52mm. Guitar Tips: How To Play Barre Chords

Another guitar tip video, this time I showed some tips on how to play barre chords. Most beginners are having problems playing this. My first tip is to have the guitar properly setup and easy to play. The second is the position of the index finger. It is a little bit twisted where in the bony part is touching the fretboard. Here is my fingerstyle guitar cover of the song Nung Tayo Pa by Janella Salvador (Himig Handog 2019 Entry). I used my Martin 000RSGT Road Series acoustic electric guitar in this video. The audio was recorded using external microphone, Audio Technica AT2020 XLR condenser microphone and output from guitar electronics, Fishman Sonitone pickup. When the song shifted key, I used a Glider Capo to move one the tune two frets higher.

Fender DG14SCE Acoustic Electric Guitar Demo Review

Here is my review of Fender DG14SCE acoustic electric guitar. This guitar has a solid Spruce top and Maple back and sides, Rosewood bridge and fingerboard, diecast tuner, Nato neck. The body is dreadnought with cutaway design. I restrung the guitar with Straight Up Strings light gauge Phosphor Bronze.

I recorded the audio of this guitar using external microphone as well as plugged-in using guitar built-in pickup, Fishman Classic4. Checkout the video to hear the tone of this one.

Audio Technica AT2020 vs AKG P170 Microphones Comparison on Acoustic Guitar

I compared the two microphones, the Large Diaphragm Condenser (LDC) microphone and Small Diaphragm Condeser (SDC) microphone. The model I used for this comparison was Audio Technica AT2020 for LDC and AKG Perception P170 for SDC microphone. Both are connected directly to XRL inputs of Zoom Q8 videocamera.
